Rally Dynasty

Since 1973

Status: up for wishlists. Out on Steam 15 October 2026 at $12.99: wishlist it on Steam. Not on sale until release: revenue earned to date is €0. On Google Play: a free run, then a €8.99 one-time unlock. The free run is the year a career starts and the two after it, and three seasons at most across your careers. The payment does not open the 1982, 1987 and 1997 starts: a campaign reaches them by playing. The free demo is the browser version at rallydynasty.com/play, with the same free run. On Steam you buy the whole game. Every figure here is updated when it changes, and not before.

The game, in one paragraph

Canonical description: reproduce verbatim

Rally Dynasty is a rally management game by an independent developer, starting in 1973 and rolling on past today. You run one family team through five regulation eras: hiring drivers, building cars, managing exact money and real time. Heirs inherit the team when a driver retires or dies. It is unofficial and unlicensed, in the spirit of the classic World Rally Championship decades. Platforms: PC (web/Steam) and Android.

This wording is canonical. Please quote it as it stands.

What it is

A rally-team management sim that starts in 1973, the World Rally Championship's founding season, and does not stop. You are behind the desk, not in the seat.

You start as a privateer with a day job, a debt-bought car and a borrowed co-driver. The season is not a fixed list of rounds: you build your own programme from a global calendar, and entry fees, start money, date clashes and travel costs are all real decisions. The main campaign runs 54 seasons, 1973 to 2026, in five acts, then continues into designed future seasons.

Money is exact and stated to the figure. Risk is stated in words and never as a percentage. A slider tells you it costs 1.8% of stage time, and the danger is described, not scored. Nothing in the game says "realistic".

The dynasty hook

The career does not end when a driver does. Drivers age, retire, get hurt and are killed; heirs inherit the team, its debts and its titles, and the family line is what carries the half-century. Rallying runs in families in real life, fathers to sons, and this is the only management game that takes that literally.

It is Football Manager depth with Crusader Kings succession, in a sport where the road is the opponent.

Five regulation eras

Era rules arrive as data, not as hard-coded year branches. Each boundary is sourced to one of fourteen research briefs and cited in the source code.

EraYearsOne rule that actually changed
World Championship and Group 4 1973-1981 1973 crowns makes only. A drivers' title arrives later; 1977-78 run the FIA Cup for Rally Drivers on its own points table.
Group B 1982-1986 The cars are barred from starting world rounds from 1987: a class ban, so the field is re-formed with era-legal metal rather than thinned.
Group A 1987-1996 The homologation floor moves to 2,500 units in 1993, and the car market moves with it.
World Rally Car 1997-2016 The central service park and the cloverleaf itinerary arrive in 2004, ending roadside service and bringing the Thursday shakedown with them. Control tyres follow in 2008, 1.6 turbos in 2011.
The modern era 2017-today Aero cars, then Rally1 hybrid in 2022 and Rally1 without hybrid in 2025. Designed future seasons continue past the present day.

Beyond the five headline eras, finer regimes shift underneath you: recce and pace notes (the RAC ran blind until 1990), ice-note crews, tyre and mousse rules, road order, gravel crews, start intervals and dust, sponsor categories, minimum competition age, and which passports may start which weekend.

The developer

Rally Dynasty is built by Daniel Raissar, working independently. He built it because rallying is a family sport, and his family was already in it.

His father, Ilmar Raissar, won USSR and Friendship Cup rounds in the 1980s in Soviet-built rally saloons, and contested Estonian championship seasons in Harju KEK Ralliklubi livery with co-driver Rein Talvar. That car and that crew appear in the documentary Legends of the Winding Roads (Kurvilise tee legendid, 2023, directed by Tarvo Mölder, produced by Sterotek), which follows Estonian drivers behind the Iron Curtain and the restoration of four of those rally cars.

The game starts the player in 1973 as a privateer, walking the same ladder his father walked, era by era, rule change by rule change. Stated plainly: the intention is that sales eventually fund real rally starts, beginning with Harju KEK Ralliklubi and an Estonian Rally Championship entry. None of that has happened yet. Earned to date is €0.

Rally Dynasty is not affiliated with, and does not speak for, Harju KEK Ralliklubi, Sterotek, or the makers of Legends of the Winding Roads. The film link is provided because Ilmar Raissar is in it, not because of any partnership.

Media

The identity is built on one image: a red 1970s coupe catching air over an unsighted crest at night, its six-lamp pod cutting cream beams across a pine forest. It makes the primary tagline literal: "Know the road. Or don't."
